Présentation de la randonnée : Point de départ : Parking Place de l’école à Sentein. Se trouve à 130 kms de Toulouse : autoroute A64, 2H 00 de route. Coordonnées GPS : LAT/LNG 42,87443 N / 0,95596 E
Les différents parcours : • Boucle Marcheurs : Sentein – Col de la Croix – Antras – Sentein. Distance : 10,3 kms, dénivelé : 650 m, Durée : 4h 30. • Boucle Randonneurs 2 : Sentein – Col des Morères – Antras – Sentein. Distance : 14,2 kms, dénivelé : 970 m, Durée : 6h 00. Option A/R Pic de Sérau : + 1 km, + 120 m.
Au-dessus de la verdoyante vallée de Sentein et face aux impressionnants sommets du Biros, cette boucle sans difficulté allie le plaisir de la randonnée à celui de la découverte du patrimoine rural. En chemin vous traverserez le village typique d’Antras, son église. Prendre le temps de parcourir également les ruelles du village étape : Sentein. Les pentes herbeuses des montagnes du Couserans ont permis le développement de l’élevage et de ses produits dérivés, dont le célèbre et succulent Bethmale. Qu’ils soient de vache ou de brebis, les fromages étaient fabriqués l’été en montagne car les troupeaux restaient en altitude. Le berger (ou le vacher) trayait les bêtes, chauffait le lait, le faisait cailler, l’égouttait, puis le mettait à sécher dans une cabane spéciale, le mazuc. Ce long travail fournissait une part importante de son revenu : le fromage était une denrée précieuse, puisque les archives du 15ème siècle attestent que des droits d’usage de la Montagne de la Morère se monnayaient en fromages.

CONSEILS PRATIQUES
Munissez-vous des équipements individuels minimum suivants, exigés pour participer en sécurité à cette randonnée :
– Chaussures de randonnée adaptées, les « baskets » ne sont pas autorisés,
– Vêtements et équipements de protection, bonnet, gants, bâtons, guêtres ..
– Eau en quantité suffisante, repas de déjeuner et vivres de course,
N’oubliez pas, vos médicaments personnels, éventuellement votre téléphone mobile, appareil photo… et surtout n’oubliez pas votre crème solaire, vos lunettes… et votre bonne humeur !
